In March, in Cuéllar, we had our first “Tea Party”. We didn’t really know much about tea, but our teachers made sure we learnt about it. The history of Afternoon Tea Parties is quite interesting; Anna, 7th Duchess of Bedford is credited with the creation of Afternoon Tea, the social event, in the 1840's. It began simply enough, as a 4:00 o'clock snack for her, to help her wait until the late supper. Friends joined her and over the next few decades the practice became a tradition
Although there are different tea party recipes, Full or Light tea afternoon tea, we had the second one, which only required scones, biscuits and tea to be served. Some students explained all the most useful information related to tea: kinds of tea, how to brew a perfect pot of tea, and of course how to make scones. Just before we could have a cuppa and home-made scones, we had a tea quiz. As you can see in the pictures, we really enjoyed it.
